The new building will resemble a shimmering wave. Small aluminum squares will sparkle in the sunlight and move with the wind along a 1,000-foot-long dynamic wall.

Inside the Coral Lab, aquarium staff grow Xenia, pink bird’s nest, blue, tubanaria, fungus, and many other colorful hard and soft corals.

The name “Wattson” is an homage to 19th century electrical designer Thomas A. Watson, famed assistant of Alexander Graham Bell.

This giant crustacean, estimated to be 75 years old, has taken up residence in Sea Cliffs. He eats about three-quarters of a pound of shrimp and fish a day.
